District Assessment Summary

The Assessment Notification (see Assessment Notification 2024-2025 at the bottom of the page) contains information about the district assessments for 2024-25.

New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA)

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) are mandated by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) and are designated to provide information about how well students are achieving in academic areas aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, which are the foundation of the district curriculum.

Both our students’ participation and results will be factored into the district’s performance rating as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act; this data is reported annually by the New Jersey Department of Education in the New Jersey School Performance Reports.  In addition, student data may be used to inform instructional needs.

High school testing requirements continue to evolve at the state level. All ninth graders are required to take the grade 9 ELA assessment. Ninth graders enrolled in Algebra I or Algebra II will also take the NJSLA mathematics assessment. Ninth graders enrolled in Geometry will not be tested in math this year.

Current ninth graders will also be required to take the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) in their junior year to fulfill their obligation toward the NJDOE high school graduation requirements.
